About Us

FPTA programs uniquely serve a multigenerational and multi-cultural  population.  FPTA has a commitment to promote tennis in Boston—a place that is culturally diverse.  Multicultural participants are underrepresented in tennis, particularly people who live in the city. Yet, because of the minimal visibility of tennis and costs associated with the sport, many people have had little first hand, practical knowledge about the health and social benefits of tennis.  To counter the under representation of certain cultural  groups and low-income tennis participants, FPTA provides tennis rackets, balls and instruction to anyone who visits the courts and shows an interest in playing tennis—free of charge.  FPTA wants to avoid the possibility that money (or lack thereof) may be a deterrent for lower income participants to become involved in tennis. The multicultural atmosphere makes it welcoming for anyone, regardless of their cultural background to be a part of the activities at the tennis courts.

The social atmosphere at Franklin Park makes it easy to find someone just to  hit with or play a pick up game.  There is almost always someone available to enjoy tennis with.

FPTA does not discriminate on the basis of race, gender, creed, religious belief, sexual orientation nor nationality.
